Make a cosy doll bassinet (carry cot) for your Studio Seren stuffed animal dolls with our cute and easy sewing pattern. The doll bed combines a strong, sturdy outer structure that is built to last with a padded inside to keep your dolls snug. I’ve spent a lot of time testing various combinations of fabrics and stabilisers, so you don’t have to

With this pattern you can also make a mattress, pillow, blanket and cushion to make the bed extra cosy and cute

The pattern includes three sizes of bed

Small: designed for baby-size Studio Seren dolls. Bed measures approximately 8 1/4” (21cm) long, 4 15/16” (12.5cm) wide, 2 3/4” (7cm) high

Medium: designed for mini-size Studio Seren dolls. Bed measures approximately 12 5/8" (32cm) long, 6 1/2" (16.5cm) wide, 3 3/4" (9.5cm) high

Large: designed for original size Studio Seren dolls. Bed measures approximately 16 1/8" (41cm long, 7 1/16" (18cm) wide, 4 1/8" (10.5cm) high

This pattern is suitable for confident beginners. It’s still beginner-friendly, but it includes slightly trickier elements such as sewing multiple layers at once and using stabilisers. If you've tried some of our confident beginner sewing patterns the bed is the perfect next project!

MATERIALS

The instructions include a detailed list of materials including exact measurements and the brand and product number of the stabilisers I’ve used so you can make a bed as strong as mine

The bed is made with the following fabrics: heavy weight cotton fabric, heavy weight fusible interfacing, high loft fusible fleece, high loft polyester batting/wadding and medium-weight fusible interfacing

To make the small or medium bed you will need approximately ½ a yard/metre of each of these fabrics. To make the large bed you will need approximately ¾ yard or ½ metre of each of these fabrics. This is based on 44" (112cm) wide fabric

The mattress, pillow, blanket and cushion can be made with medium-weight cotton fabric such as quilting cotton. It is fun to use different fabrics, but if they were to be made from the same fabric the small bed could be made with ½ yard (with lots left over or ¼ metre of fabric. The medium bed could be made with ½ yard/metre of fabric and the large with ¾ yard/metre of fabric. This is based on 44” (112cm) wide fabric

    Absolutely adorable

Emma’s patterns are simply the best for making dolls and accessories. The bedding pattern is no exception. It was thoughtful, informative and the instructions were very clear to follow. I appreciate the suggestions she gave regarding types of interfacing to use and really enjoyed putting a little bed set together as a gift.

This is such a cute addition to the animal patterns. Although there is a lot of prep and cutting, it is well worth the end result! Thanks Emma! Such a well thought out pattern!
