How to make a felt carrot
There are only a few simple steps to make a felt carrot
Step 1
Download the pattern and cut out the two pieces below
Step 2
Fold the carrot piece in half widthways (don’t press) and sew as shown to make a cone shape. You could use a sewing machine for this or sew it by hand using backstitch
Step 3
Trim the seam allowance and snip off the bottom tip, as shown. This will make it easier to turn the right side out
Step 4
Turn the carrot the right side out. Gently push the chopstick into the end of the carrot to make it pointed
Step 5
Make 1" (2.5cm) cuts into the rectangle 3/16" (0.5cm) apart to create the carrot’s leaves
Step 6
Roll the rectangle into a cylinder as shown and hold it together with a few stitches. Secure the stitches with a couple of knots
Step 7
Fill the carrot with stuffing, stopping 1/4" (6mm) before the opening
Step 8
Tie a knot in a piece of thread and place the needle through the inside of the carrot and out near the seam by the opening. Use a running stitch to sew around the opening of the carrot. Pull gently on the thread to gather the stitches
Step 9
Place the leaves into the opening and pull the thread to tighten the gathers so they hold the leaves in place
Step 10
Make a few stitches through the gathers and leaves to hold them in place and secure with a knot
That's it! They really are so easy to make. If you wanted you could scale up the pattern on a printer to make the carrots bigger to use as Easter decor or make some for your children's play kitchen
